On 3 October 2017, the UK Antarctic Place-names Committee approved the following name for British use.
Memorial Point: 64°48'45”S, 63°01'40”W
Point at the western end of Lemaire Island, Gerlache Strait. Named to commemorate all those British personnel who died whilst working in Antarctica and who have not been commemorated individually.
Lemaire Island is often passed by cruise ships that have visited Port Lockroy by the Neumayer Channel and are returning by a different route.
