Maquettes of the Antarctic Monument

The Antarctic Monument is composed of two parts that complement each other.  The Northern Monument is made of oak and is sited at the Scott Polar Reseach Institute in Cambridge.  The Southern Monument is a steel needle and plinth on the waterfront at Stanley, Falkland Islands.  To appreciate the vision of the sculptor, Oliver Barrat, small-scale models (maquettes) have been created so both monuments can be viewed together. 

Two sets of models have been created of the monuments on their plinths.  One set is displayed at the Falkland Islands Museum which is adjacent to the Southern Memorial at Stanley.  The second set is destined for the Scott Polar Research Institute.
