Felicity Aston appointed MBE and awarded Polar Medal

Congratulations to Trust Ambassador Felicity Aston on being appointed MBE for services to polar exploration in the New Year's Honours List.
A few days later she was awarded the Polar Medal. The award was announced in the London Gazette of January 9 2015. Part of which is reproduced below.
In 2013, Felicity was the first women to ski solo across Antarctica.
In 2009 she led eight Commonwealth women from Cyprus, Ghana, India, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, New Zealand, Jamaica and the UK to the South Pole.
In 2006 she led the first British women's team to cross the Greenland ice sheet. She is much valued Ambassador for the British Antarctic Monument Trust.
She was a meteorologist at the BAS Rothera station in 2000-03.
