Dame Jane Francis

BAS Director, Professor Jane Francis, is appointed Dame Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George (DCMG) in recognition of services to UK polar science and diplomacy. The announcement was gazeteered in the 2017 New Year's Honours LIst.

Dame Francis has been a long time supporter of the Trust and appears in the Film of the creation of the monument at the Scott Polar and in the Falkland Islands as well as the Antarctic Memorial in the crypt of St Paul's Cathedral. The film is to be premiered at the Royal Geographical Society on 14 June 2017 at 19.00. Bar from 18.00.

Brian Dorsett-Bailey

Brian Dorsett-Bailey, who has died aged 79, was a Trustee of the British Antarctic Monument Trust.
