A gleaming Southern Monument

cleaned Southern MonumentIan Bury, our contractor friend in the Falkland Islands, has thoroughly polished the Southern Monument in preparation for the influx of tourists either staying for a holiday in the Falklands or passing through on a cruise ship bound for South Georgia and the Antarctic.  

There has been a significant amount of corrosion apparent on the Southern Monument, and a replacement is being created to circumvent the long-term problem.  The deep cleaning has done marvels to the polished surface as the image shows.
