The Antarctic Place-names Committee has informed the Trust that its request for naming a feature for Arthur Farrant in the vicinity of Deception Island has been successful. Arthur Farrant was the Mechanical Engineer at Deception Island in 1953 after service at other stations. He took his own life after a period of difficulties over the performance of the base generators for which he was responsible.
The official entry in the Antarctic Gazetteer states:
Farrant Point (63° 0’ 54” S, 60° 40’ 15” W)
